We hope that everyone has gotten back into the swing of things — new classes, resolutions, and plenty of time to make new memories. We want to congratulate the University of Alabama on winning the NCAA National College Football Championship — we are so proud that UA students call us home. Roll Tide!
This month is all about you, your boo, and taking the time to relax and appreciate each and every single one of you! We hope that you attend the events we’re hosting for you, and keep your eye out for some SPECIAL events that will be broadcasted via our social media accounts.
Last month, we placed a focus on events promoting personal, academic, and professional success. We hope you attended one if not all of these events, but if you did miss out, be sure to come to the office for information on our success portal, resume building, and tips for job interviews. As part of our award-winning Students First® program, we want to aid you in every way we can as you make the transition between college and career.
Lastly, the time to RENEW is NOW! To ensure you renew at the lowest rate possible, it’s important that you jump on this deal fast. If you are one of the next 50 people to renew, you will receive rates as low as $435! Be aware — rates will only go up from here.
- New Year’s resolutions have arrived! Get on top of your health and your studies in our 24-hour fitness center and business center!
- Don’t want to drive to class? Lucky for you, we’re close enough to walk and bike to class! If you prefer wheels, we also have a shuttle that stops on the 13th and 39th minutes of every hour from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. at the bus stop at the front of the property. Our shuttle goes to three different places on campus, including the northeast commuter lot, the bus hub, and Denny Chimes.
- Smoking in your apartment is NOT allowed. Doing so can carry significant fines per resident and lead to eviction. There is no smoking allowed in the lobby, clubhouse, parking garage, stairwells, elevator, or within 30 feet of any entry door to the buildings.
- Guests are to be accompanied by a resident at all times while on the property. Allowing your guests in the amenities or around the property unaccompanied can result in both fines and loss of guest privileges. Each resident is allowed NO MORE THAN TWO GUESTS, including in the pool area.
- If you’re locked out of your apartment, call the office and press 9 for one of our on-call Community Assistants to assist you. We’re available 24 hours, 7 days a week. After-hours lockouts are a $50 charge.

Focus on Career Success
Whether you are a sophomore looking at internships or a senior getting ready for that first job after graduation, the spring semester brings added pressure as you seek to set yourself apart and set yourself up for success.
Here are five tips to keep you moving forward on a career success track:
Tip #1: The key to getting hired is selling yourself better than the other candidates. What’s your pitch? Practice concise ways to share your value and what you are looking for.
Tip #2: Your resume’s only job is to get your foot in the door! Have it critiqued at the career center.
Tip #3: Google yourself: What does your online presence tell future employers? Are you focusing on your online brand? Your potential employer is! Work on shaping your presence online and off.
Tip #4: Come up with EVERY reason an employer might not hire you — and an answer for each objection. For example, “What I lack in relevant experience, I make up for with my drive and proven ability to learn new things quickly.”
Tip #5: Learn from the best! Find people doing what you want to do and doing it well — and ask them for guidance. It’ll be well worth your time and perhaps a few cups of coffee to do informational interviews with others on their success stories.
These tips are obviously just the tip of the iceberg. Watch out for career success experiences here at your community. Whether you want feedback on your pitch or need someone to critique your resume, let us know how we can help you and connect you with resources to assist in your success!
